Baumit Metallic – facade paint with a metallic effect and designer character
Baumit Metallic is an innovative facade paint with a metallic effect, designed to achieve an elegant, modern, and distinctive appearance on exterior surfaces. This is not just a decorative coating – it’s a finish with character, giving any building a dynamic look and a sense of sophistication. Suitable for facade elements or entire surfaces, the paint successfully imitates a metallic sheen by combining technology and aesthetics in a single solution.
Metallic gloss with stylish refinement
The defining feature of Baumit Metallic is its expressive sheen that creates the appearance of a metal surface. It is ideal for decorative accents, architectural details, and full facade designs where a premium look is desired. Whether it’s a modern residential building, a commercial facade, or a unique artistic structure, this product delivers a visual impact that captures attention.
Composition and properties
The formula is based on high-quality acrylic binders, metallic effect pigments, and specially selected mineral fillers. This ensures excellent weather resistance, durability, and mechanical strength. Baumit Metallic is water-repellent yet vapor-permeable, allowing the facade to "breathe" and protecting the structure from moisture accumulation.
Thanks to its strong adhesion and wear resistance, the coating is perfect for areas exposed to environmental stress. The gloss level is pronounced yet subtle – evoking the appearance of noble metal without being overly reflective.
Application and techniques
Baumit Metallic can be applied manually – using a lambskin roller or brush – or by machine via spray technique using a Hopper Gun with a suitable nozzle (1–3 mm) and air compressor. For best results, it is recommended to apply two crisscross layers over a white base coat (e.g., Baumit SilikonColor or GranoporColor Life 0019).
Depending on the substrate and weather conditions, the paint can be diluted with up to 5% clean water. It is suitable for a wide range of surfaces – lime-cement, cement, silicate, dispersion, and silicone renders – provided the base is solid and properly prepared.
Surface preparation – key to success
Achieving a flawless finish depends heavily on proper surface preparation. Surfaces must be dry, clean, and structurally sound – free of dust, salts, or crumbling areas. Depending on the substrate condition, deep-penetrating primers such as Baumit MultiPrimer or Baumit SanovaPrimer are recommended. Surfaces affected by biological growth should be treated with products like Baumit FungoFluid.
Attention to detail
Avoid applying the paint in extreme temperatures – below +5°C or above +30°C – or in direct sunlight, rain, or strong wind. Use facade protection nets if needed. Surface irregularities are accentuated by the metallic effect, so surface evenness is crucial. For optimal quality, especially on smooth substrates, sanding and thorough dust removal may be necessary before application.
A final touch with personality
Baumit Metallic is more than just facade paint – it is a designer’s tool in the hands of architects and professionals who seek refinement, individuality, and style. Combining technical excellence with aesthetic impact, it is the perfect choice for any facade that aims to make a statement.
