Anchors for thermal insulation

Mounting thermal insulation anchors is recommended to be done at a temperature above 0°C. The depth of the holes should be at least 10 mm greater than the anchor's depth in the base.

Old plaster and ceramic coatings on which the installation of the thermal insulation system is carried out are not a reliable support for the anchor. This fact must be taken into account when choosing the length of the anchor for insulation with fibran or polystyrene.

Mounting Thermal Anchors

Mounting a thermal insulation anchor should be done through a sufficiently thick layer of adhesive, and only after the adhesive material has dried well - a minimum drying period of 24 hours.

When using polyurethane adhesive to connect thermal insulation panels, the mounting of anchors for insulation can begin 2 hours after connecting the individual surfaces. The mounted anchors must hold firmly and press against the insulation panel (fibran/polystyrene, etc.).

When the anchors are mounted under a reinforcing mesh, their caps must be driven in all the way to protect the anchor from moisture penetration into its interior. In this style of mounting, the anchor's cup should gently sink into the insulation board to form a level surface with the board.

Excessive anchoring depth can lead to locally increased plaster thickness, which, when moistened due to longer drying times, can lead to the formation of a visible mark (dark spot) on the facade.

To ensure the effectiveness of thermal insulation, only high-quality anchors with a heat transfer coefficient ≤ 0.002 W/K should be used for polystyrene or fibran. When using anchors with a coefficient greater than this, in addition to heat loss, permanent bright spots of the anchor cups' size are formed on the facade.

This effect can be prevented if the anchors are mounted deeper into the insulation layer, so that their cups are "embedded" by about 20 mm in it, and the resulting hole can be covered with a cap made of insulation material. After their installation in the insulation, the cups must be smeared so that they are completely covered without plaster buildup on them.
