Cement screed - represents a simple layer of finer lightweight concrete laid on an existing and hardened concrete base. The screed is usually a simple mixture of cement, inert materials, and sand, but there are patented mixtures of specialized lightweight screeds. It is applied directly on an existing concrete or as a floating covering over a layer of rigid insulation material.
Ready-Made Cement Screed – What Does It Represent?
The screed is the covering and leveling layer placed on the concrete base. It can consist of components similar to concrete, but there are different types of screeds. In other words, concrete is defined by its components, while the screed is defined by its function.
For What Purposes Can Trakon NSD 620 Be Used?
Lightweight cement screed with perlite can be laid for various purposes:
- One of these purposes may include improving the appearance of an existing concrete floor. Concrete comes in many forms and conditions. The concrete floor may be structurally sound but may have surface damage, spots, roughness, or inconsistent coloring. The self-leveling screed for indoor and outdoor use will provide an attractive, homogeneous, and smooth surface.
- Lightweight perlite screed can help provide a uniform base for laying underfloor heating, tiles, parquet, linoleum, or vinyl.
- A cement screed for underfloor heating is like lightweight concrete and is an ideal solution for finishing added underfloor heating. Underfloor heating systems typically consist of pipes carrying heated water. These pipes are then wrapped in a concrete screed to hide them completely, and the screed acts as a heat conductor.
- Another purpose for which an affordable ready-made cement screed with perlite can be used is for finishing work on exterior walls and floors.
Types of Screed
The most commonly encountered type of screed is a simple concrete mixture. For a better appearance at the site treated with lightweight screed (light, we offer higher-quality cement, smaller and more uniform inert and fine sand. It is possible to add colored pigment to the mixture, such as a metal oxide pigment. In addition, fibers can be added to the mixture, which will further increase strength and reduce the risk of unsightly cracks in the future.
If you don't have time but want to achieve an equally good result, of course, it is possible to purchase a pre-made cement screed at a reasonable price. These products provide reliable consistency of the coating and can dry to a state where you can walk on them in just four hours.
Another type is anhydrous external screed. This is a construction liquid directed at the floor and requires less skill to apply. The cement screed for the floor dries within 48 hours to leave a smooth finish. It is often used with underfloor heating systems.
How to Use Lightweight Screed?
The mixture is available in liquid form or ready for application. It can be applied quickly using a specialized applicator. This is a relatively easy process and can be suitable in many circumstances. Lightweight perlite screed is also ideal for commercial buildings where you want to quickly renovate the concrete floor. It doesn't require much time for application and drying.
Advantages
You will find that there are many advantages to using Trakon NSD 620 lightweight self-leveling screed for indoor and outdoor use, so let's take a look at a few below.
Ready Application
This is a pre-mixed material, so there is no need to mix materials on-site.
Reduced Drying Time
Unlike concrete, cement screed for underfloor heating requires very little drying time. You will be able to walk on the floor within two days of application.
Reduced Labor
Self-leveling perlite screed for external use can be placed directly on the surface that needs treatment. There is no need to transport the material back and forth with carts. The number of people needed for the process is very minimal.
Self-Leveling Properties
This unique mixture has self-leveling properties, so you don't have to worry about an uneven floor after application. Your floor will look shiny, even, and new.
